Happy Super Bowl Sunday everybody!!
We want to thank everyone who has contributed so far. Without even starting serious fundraising we have already raised over $300. James and I are hoping to get into running stores soon in our respective areas and talk to some people about our cause. James will work on getting donations from his battalion and I am going to be working on getting donations from Momper Insulation, who employs multiple veterans. We appreciate your continued support. On days like today, when we are all celebrating with the people we love, I always think it is good to remember that there are people who are currently away from loved ones, fighting to protect us and our freedoms, so that fun days like Super Bowl Sunday can still continue. So tonight as you are watching the game, drink a beer and eat a wing thinking of someone who is sacrificing for you. My family is lucky enough that my brother, currently deployed in Afghanistan, was able to come home on his mid cycle break to spend some time with his wife and children this weekend.
Thank you everyone
Go Eli! Beat Brady!
The pre-game ceremonies really put things in perspective for me.
ReplyDeleteThere we were, getting ready to watch to two teams that proved to be the greatest in the NFL this season, making all sorts of delectable food items and then Blake & Miranda sang "America the Beautiful" and Kelly Clarkson did the "Star Spangled Banner," I watched as Tom Coughlin sing along to with Kelly Clarkson, many of the players look choked up, and I realized that it's just a game that entertains us - that despite all the hype for weeks leading up to this, that nothing compares to the sacrifice that hundreds of thousands of American soldiers and their families make to defend our freedom.
So, I thank the people that work so hard to make the entire NFL and Super Bowl experience the wonderfully entertaining experience that it was for all of us - and I do think it was GREAT!! However, I want all of our people in uniform that serve near and far to know how much I appreciate them.
Thanks for the comment, MJR. I totally agree. I am always so moved when I hear a great rendition of the national anthem, especially when they show active duty deployed military members. How could you not be. They make a sacrifice greater than any one can imagine.
DeleteThanks again for the comment and the pageview, MJR. Stay tuned to our blog through May for more updates!
